M. Cynthia Goh is a distinguished Professor of Chemical Biophysics at the University of Toronto (UoT), with expertise spanning chemistry, nanotechnology, and entrepreneurship. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from UCLA and completed postdoctoral research at UC Berkeley, Columbia, and UCLA. With over three decades in academia, she has held leadership roles, including founding the Impact Centre and serving as Academic Director of UofT Entrepreneurship. Her groundbreaking work includes eco-friendly nanoparticle synthesis, diffraction-based sensing for diagnostics, and innovative bacterial detection methods. She has secured 72 patents, published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, and mentored 200+ aspiring entrepreneurs, catalyzing 150+ science-based startups. Her research has secured multi-million-dollar grants, advancing nanomaterials for energy, healthcare, and sustainable agriculture. Recognized with numerous awards, including the NSERC Synergy Award, she actively contributes to scientific advisory boards and biotech ventures, driving innovation from lab to market.
