Dr. Celia M. Reyes is a researcher with expertise in the study of poverty, social inequality, and development. She was the former president (and first female president) of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, as well as the former president of the Philippine Economic Society. Some of her work includes serving as an adviser to various national government technical working groups on poverty monitoring and indicator systems in the country since the early 1990s. She earned her Bachelor’s and MA in Statistics from the University of the Philippines and a PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.Â
